Replacing Old Fillings

Mouthful of Metal?

Sometimes, the easiest way to rejuvenate your smile is by changing out those old amalgam fillings or mismatched tooth-coloured fillings. Changing old fillings is normally a simple procedure and besides the cosmetic implications, there are also other benefits to undergoing this procedure.

Did you know that keeping your large amalgam fillings can harm your teeth in the long run?  Amalgam fillings expand slowly over time; unfortunately your teeth do not.  After a period of time, the amalgam filling can expand to an extent that the tooth surrounding the filling begins to crack.  This may lead to discomfit and even tooth loss if the amalgam filling is not promptly removed.

Also some people may have concerns with amalgam toxicity.  We, at Just White Dental, do not believe amalgams to be toxic but we do respect your concerns.  We can highlight the risks and benefits of removing amalgam fillings and you can then make your own informed decision.

Why You Should Have Amalgams Replaced

  • If you have amalgams that are clearly visible while talking and smiling
  • If you are concerned that amalgams could be damaging your teeth
  • If you are worried regarding potential amalgam toxicity
